JOB CREATION AND A HEALTHY ECONOMY

The top priority of an administration led by Carlos Allen will be to effect economic growth by creating new employment opportunities and preserving the existing job base in the District of Columbia. We will create incentives to attract new businesses to the city and motivate existing businesses to employ District residents.

Another key tasking to economic growth and jobs in the city is to develop and grow small businesses. According to the Small Business Administration there are 26 million firms in the United States. Of these, 97.5% have fewer than 20 employees which means that small businesses are the backbone and economic engine of our country. We therefore, need to implement more support mechanisms to grow small businesses so they are able to employ more individuals where the result equals job growth. In order to facilitate growth in our economy, we will pursue creating abundant opportunities for the District of Columbia's small businesses through tax advantages, employer incentives, entrepreneur training programs and a friendly environment where business owners can develop new ventures, corporations and organizations to create new jobs for District of Columbia citizens.

EDUCATION

For years, DC politicians have talked about building better schools with no results. We know that educational excellence is our city’s best long-term economic development strategy.

Education is essential to doors opening to brilliant career opportunities and equipping our children with all that is needed to ensure a strong and solid family foundation. Currently schools in affluent DC neighborhoods have higher test scores and other amenities than schools in under-privileged neighborhoods. Children in every District of Columbia ward should have the same educational opportunities, amenities and programs alike as jobs of the future will not look like the jobs of today. Individuals will require more education than ever before including a four-year college degree, to get a job that pays enough to provide for a family.

Currently there appears to be conflict and bickering between the Executive Board and the Teachers Union, teachers and parents alike. There needs to be one cohesive plan for educational advancement with key milestones and objectives that the city is accountable for. Few improvements have come despite millions of additional spending. So enough talk, we need action and unfortunately our educational system is failing. Today, our children rank extremely low on national tests scores, behind students from the vast majority of our neighboring states. If today’s children are going to have the same opportunities their parents enjoyed, our city must improve its’ educational system.

GOVERNMENT REFORM THROUGH TRUST, ACCOUNTABILITY & TRANSPARENCY

In order to create intrinsic economic growth in the District of Columbia, it is essential that we help our resident base get back to work starting with solid employment opportunities. Carlos Allen’s strategy is to peel back the layers and effect change from the foundation working upward to reform our government. Our legislators must be held to a higher standard to restore taxpayers’ trust and confidence and to bring about a capable and productive DC government, at all levels and in every branch.

Carlos is committed to rooting out corruption, waste, fraud and abuse from any source and will take action to execute the needed changes, reform and certainties for the District of Columbia. For far too long, the DC government has let down the hard working families of this great city, and it is time for TRANSFORMATION. Carlos Allen’s motto is “Let’s Crash The Nonsense Out Of DC Politics” and he’ll provide an open, transparent, accountable and trustworthy government that finally puts District of Columbia taxpayers first and gets the city back on track and moving in the right direction.
